Bagamoyo Attractions – On a bright Sunday morning, we set out in a taxi to see Bagamoyo attractions. Bagamoyo is a historic town, located about 75 kms away from Dar es Salaam. Bagamoyo was the headquarters for the Germans in 1891. The port was famous for slave and ivory trade.The meaning of Bagamoyo in Swahili is ‘throw down your heart’,was probably given this name because Bagamoyo was the last place the slaves would stay in Tanzania before being shipped off.

Crocodile Farm: On the way we had our second halt to see Crocodile Farm, one of Bagamoyo attractions. When we reached there it was noon and we walked through the hot sandy area to reach there. The crocodiles were kept in different ponds according to their age and growth. 

Since it was almost their feeding time, seeing the strangers they came forward looking for food. They are fed with cow’s meat. A large size, which was the oldest one in the group (56 years), was lying quietly in one corner. These crocodiles were kept for show as well as for sale.
