Day 1: Dar es salaam to Mikumi- 6 hrs drive:
Meet & greet in Dar es salam at 0730 hrs & drive with lunch box to Mikumi. Late afternoon game drive with sunset view & watch the animal’s drinking water at hippo pool. Overnight at Tanapa Cottage/ Vuma Hill Tented  Camp on FB Basis ( Lunch & Dinner).
 
Day 2: Mikumi to Dar es salaam – 6 hrs drive:
After breakfast, short morning game drive till 1000 hrs & drive back to Dar with lunch box & dropped off to Hotel/ Airport/ Seaport ( Breakfast & Lunch).

GETTING TO MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK

Safaris to Mikumi usually start from Dar es Salaam, and your point of entry for the country is Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). In most cases, your tour operator will pick you up from the airport and handle all further ground operations or domestic flights.

Mikumi is a four-hour drive away from Dar  and can easily be visited as a weekend get-away. However, most people visit Mikumi en route to Nyerere or Ruaha. The only scheduled flights to Mikumi are with Safari Air Link which offers a daily connection to Ruaha, Selous, Dar and Zanzibar.

Mikumi & Zanzibar Safari FAQ

June to October is the best time to visit Mikumi National Park. During the dry season, the wildlife concentrate around waterholes and rivers – making it easier to spot them.

A good surfaced road connects Mikumi to Dar es Salaam via Morogoro, a roughly 4 hour drive. Also road connections to Udzungwa, Ruaha and (dry season only) Selous. Charter flight from Dar es Salaam, Arusha or Selous. Local buses run from Dar to park HQ where game drives can be arranged.

Wildlife in this quiet national park includes elephant, giraffe, buffalo, Burchell’s zebra, sable, eland, Liechtenstein’s hartebeest, lion, leopard, spotted hyena, and jackal. You can also find yellow baboons near Kiboga, at the southern end of the park.

3,230 sq km (1,250 sq miles), it’s on of the largest park in Tanzania. Location: 283 km (175 miles) West of Dar es Salaam, this park can be visited with Selous, Ruaha and Udzungwa national parks.

Mikumi national park is named after the popular dominant Palm tree species that is commonly found at the park called Borrassus Spp. The tree is exceptional in that it grew at the park but with no stems seen from anywhere in the village. The park also shares its name with the village which is named after the park.
